Unpacking Social Justice Standards

May 22, 2023

ONLINE

Immerse yourself in the advantages of incorporating the Learning for Justice Social Justice Framework while exploring text from Romeo and Juliet provided by Shakespeare and Social Justice (SSJ) program at Shakespeare Center Los Angeles. The online workshop introduces an easily implementable approach that integrates identity, diversity, justice, and action (IDJA) into the instructional planning and delivery that build student leadership, empathy, and literacy in the classroom.

The Shakespeare and Social Justice staff will briefly share an example of their unique lessons that incorporate IDJA that invite students to explore identity and community as a prequel to the summer workshops provided in July 2023. This training is geared toward 6-12 educators responsible for planning, delivering English Language Arts/Literacy or social studies instruction (e.g., classroom teachers, instructional aide, student support teachers, reading specialists, instructional coaches, curriculum coordinators and administrators).
